2/ Classes A-B rules:

2a-Any car entered must be an exact-scale representation of an original prototype including exacting decor and detailing. Submit photographic and/or blueprint proof with your entry if car is of obscure/unknown type. Basic dimensions will be checked. No low-riders allowed.

2b-Maximum width measured at contact patch of tires must not exceed 2.5" at any point when front wheels are pointing straight.

2c-Maximum body width can exceed 2.5" but be sure to submit acceptable proof in the form of credible evidence.

2d-Three-dimensional driver must be detailed, full driver compartment encouraged.

2e-Minimum ground clearance is 1/8" except for guide flag and tires. This ground clearance is based on a 4" dimension on full-size car, chosen arbitrarily as an acceptable average.

2f- Maximum dimension for either guide or guide pin plate, not to exceed a total surface when seen from bottom, of 1 square inch. Guide or pin plate must be made of non-conductive material. Chassis, gear or any part of it cannot be seen when car is viewed from the top. Gear must clear 1/32" above track.

2g-Body, motor and chassis materials are specification free.

2h-Wheels and tires must be of correct scale in diameter, conform to the original prototype. Wheel width must match original specs of prototype, but in any case cannot exceed .5625 measured between rim beads.

2i-Maximum tire width measured at the contact patch (tread) in any case is .55", as it is the widest tire ever used in racing on F1's and F5000 (15" diameter wheel  X 18" width).

2j-Except for motor operation, no magnets can be used. A maximum of two, ceramic, non-cobalt magnets are allowed inside motor. More than one motor per car is allowed if connected to front or rear wheels and pickup.

To give a break and an incentive to contestants wishing to enter narrower cars with narrower tires, a proven handicap system is in place for Classes A-B & E:

2k-From the maximum width at the tires contact patch of 2.5", representing 100% of the allowable width, 1 point will be added to the score of any car UNDER this width, for every percentage point under the maximum allowable. Each percentage point represents .050". There will be no sub-fraction of this basic number.

2l-From the maximum allowable tire width of .55" at the contact patch, representing 100% of allowable width, the same rule will apply, I.E. 1 point will be added for every .010" UNDER the maximum width. There will be no sub-fraction under this basic number.

NOTE 1: All full-size racing tires have curved sidewalls representing up to 20% of the total tire width seen from top. Any car entered with straight sidewall tires exceeding the .55" width limit will be subject to a deduction of 10% of its overall scoring.

NOTE 2: Any car found to exceed the maximum allowable width at the contact patch of tires of 2.5" will be deducted DOUBLE the number of points as per the formula described above. This rule applies to all classes in respect to their published limitations.
